In 1906 the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney, took up the challenge to establish a Catholic hospital, not only to give medical and nursing care to the North Shore community, but to demonstrate the healing mission of Jesus.

In 2001 the Mercy tradition was complemented by the strength and wisdom of a union with the Sisters of Charity to form St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney.

The centenary has enabled us to acknowledge that together with their congregations the Sisters continue to work in the community, and for the community, through the hospital.
