The current 195-bed hospital accommodates around 24,000 patients a year, with services including cancer care, joint replacement, bone and sports injuries, maternity and women's health, intensive care, renal haemodialysis, day stay surgery and acute general surgery. Additional specialised surgery includes areas as ear, nose and throat; urology and cochlear ear implants implemented for both children and adults.

In addition, the hospital offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment support services, including radiology, pathology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, pharmacy and physiotherapy.

The state-of-the-art facilities include eight operating theatres, a level two intensive care unit, advanced angiography, and endoscopy suites and a maternity unit, comprising six delivery suites and a ten-bed special care nursery.

The Mater is able to meet the surgical and hospital needs of both adults and children.
