| The staff at the Mater believe that you do not just have an illness. We recognise that there may be other issues, small or significant that are influenced by your medical condition.
The Pastoral Services Department is a skilled team of professionals and includes the Hospital Chaplain, the Pastoral Care Team and Eucharistic Ministers. As non-medical professionals, we commit ourselves to helping you deal with the day to day human concerns you have whilst being a patient here. We recognise that needs vary from patient to patient. Pastoral Care staff will enquire if they can be of specific assistance to you. Alternatively, they may be contacted simply by making a request through Nursing staff. Pastoral Care staff can organise for a Minister of your religious denomination to visit if you so wish. The Hospital Chaplain is also available for the administration of Sacraments to Catholic patients. Members of the Pastoral Care Team visit the wards regularly and are available to spend time with patients, relatives, friends and staff as required. Chapel
